WIKA sendiri memulai sepak terjangnya di negara ini dengan menjadi perusahaan subkontraktor dari sebuah konsorsium perusahan-perusahaan Jepang (COJAAL) yang menjadi kontraktor utama untuk sebuah pekerjaan Jalan Bebas Hambatan sepanjang 946 Km yang membentang dari sisi barat (batas Marocco) sampai dengan sisi Timur (batas Tunisia), pekerjaan ini sendiri dikerjakan oleh 3 group konsorsium (2 konsorsium dari China), COJAAL sendiri mengerjakan sisi timur sepanjang ± 450 Km dari ruas jalan yang diklaim oleh pemerintah Aljazair sebagai proyek pekerjaan sipil terbesar di dunia saat ini.

Selama hampir 4 tahun (2007 – 2011) bekerja di Negara ini, WIKA membangun banyak sekali produk-produk konstruksi berupa Jembatan-Jembatan Beton, Box Culvert, Underpass Beton, Produk-Produk Beton Pra-Cetak, Jalan Aspal dan lain-lain.

Selama 4 Tahun itu jugalah, berbagai kondisi, moment, event, kejadian dan pengalaman terangkum menjadi sebuah cerita yang tidak terlupakan dan menjadi pembelajaran kedepan bagi setiap insan WIKA khususnya dan warga Indonesia umumnya yang ingin mengadu nasib di luar negeri, khususnya di Negara-negara Afrika seperti Aljazair atau yang lainnya.

Blog ini, seperti “there’s something to be shared in every moment..” , sengaja dibuat untuk berbagi kisah dan pengalaman yang dirasakan menarik dan valuable untuk dibagi dengan yang lain, bukan hanya dari sisi teknis konstruksi, namun juga dari sisi lain menyangkut budaya, iklim, social politik dan sebagainya. Berbagai hal seperti bekerja di suhu yang sangat ekstrim (-10 s/d 53 derajat celcius), beradaptasi dengan budaya setempat, berbaur dengan masyarakat Aljazair dan “belajar” untuk menyukai makanan Aljazair yang tentunya sangat berbeda dengan makanan Indonesia , serta yang utama adalah bagaimana mensiasati hidup terpisah sejauh ¼ lingkar bumi dari keluarga menjadi sepenggal kisah yang mungkin menarik untuk dijadikan pembelajaran, atau minimal sekedar berbagi.
