OUCH! My Vagina! Mom Gives Birth to 14 Pound Baby!

Emily Maldanado gave birth to Matthew Anthony Maldanado at the Natividad Medical Center in California last week.  Although Matthew was born via cesarean section, it still makes me ache for his mother.   I was miserable carrying a 5 pound 12 ounce petite little girl in the third trimester, I can only imagine carrying around a teenager in my uterus!

According to the local Fox News affiliate :

My brother-in-law was over 13 pounds! My tiny mother-in-law tried her hardest to birth him vaginally, but in the end, she was in danger and so was he, so she had an emergency cesarean. I can’t even imagine how uncomfortable the end of her pregnancy and labor must have been for her! She may not have vaginally birthed him, but she sure gave it her all and for that she is super woman!

Uh, I like how Foxy says, “getting a baby”, like they just opened you up and happened to find her in there, like a prize in a box of cracker jacks. If you’ve gone through 10 long months of pregnancy, no matter how your baby ends up being born, you BIRTHED. You didn’t “get” a baby. You made, gestated, housed, protected and nourished a baby that you then birthed into the world.

I guess in June my children will be celebrating their “Untimely ripped from my womb” days, since clearly I didn’t give birth to them, given that I preferred we all stay alive.

Seriously. I carried them in my body, they were born by coming out of my body, ergo, I gave birth. Why are some people so invested in demeaning two of the most important days of my life because my children didn’t exit my body in a way in which they approve?

Eh, I agree that she did give “birth”, regardless of surgical assistance.But the title of "ouch my vagina" is a bit misleading. I do not want to discredit anyone who has had a caesarean, especially after trying for a vaginal delivery. I was more impressed with a vaginal delivery of a baby of 14 pounds. I'm sure it was incredibly uncomfortable during her third trimester, most mothers are. I doubt that the extra couple pounds of the child is his third quarter much more difficult. I wonder if it is a much more significant reduction? I also wonder if she and her husband are more people, or if the size is the result of gestational diabetes?
